Lamar Smith: Enemy Of The Internet? Defends Internet Snooping Bill
Unfortunately, the bill, HR 1981, was passed by Commission (who was arrested with SAI), so it could reach floor at any time. As he did with the soup of opposition, staff Smith dismissed criticism of online bill insisting that it is not as great as people do to be ... and that complaints about the bill is not accurate. However, the trial said progress has already received more than 90,000 signatures against the bill, and many others speak against it. As with soup, opposition to this bill is wrong, do not fall along political lines. Have DailyKos on the left who speak against it, as well as groups of patriots and supporters of Ron Paul. And, of course, Reddit also played an active role.
In many ways, this Bill is clearly worst
IAD because it not only creates a new problem ideal for all Internet companies, who need to keep all data, but it tries to hide behind a claim either to protection against child pornography, that no politician wants to vote against. Maintenance costs of all this information can be very large, but more importantly, this is exactly the opposite of a privacy bill. This is a bill of privacy, since the data that the company must collect and maintain, it is likely to escape or have access to someone one that has not (including the government - which was the point Lofgren tried to change the name). In addition, the bill does absolutely nothing about the problem you actually claim to be objective. Nothing in Bill could actually slow or stop child pornography. The full name is a smokescreen to try to get the bill.
