Sim City - preview
The city building simulation of the classic is back, with a deep simulation than ever and an exciting multiplayer mode
About 23 years ago, Will Wright and his team at Maxis Software has changed the direction and importance of designing video games. They did it with Sim City, a brilliant urban sandbox simulator, allowing players to create their own urban landscapes operation, complete with economic infrastructure, and social - and the odd natural disaster. The series saw four major sections and sold millions of copies. And now he's back, renovated from top to bottom and ready to absorb new.
Developed by many original equipment Maxis, SimCity is based on completely new game engine Glassbox Apparently the name comes from the transparency of the system - for the first time, all pedestrians, all cars and all buildings in the game is an officer, reporting to the main simulation. This means that players will be able to work with the point of view - rather than numerous tables and menu screens - why their beloved utopia is quickly festering urban hell
"Ocean Quigley, our creative director and Andrew Willmott, our chief architect, both worked in the Sim City 4 and the technology was not there to support the massive simulation and graphics that they wanted, "says producer Jason Haber." Now we're finally at the point where they can make the game we like to say: "You see, we do more than '- .. Everything you see in the game is in reality show "
Forget the simulation at the time, and appreciate the appeal that comes out. Inspired by the TiltShift YouTube phenomenon, in which the real world, cities are made to look like small representations of the world in Sim City has a small-scale model to play - not exactly pretty, but certainly bright and elegant. Teeny pedestrians roaming the streets, each with their own objectives and specific destinations, all cars on the road is occupied by drivers and passengers real Sim Sim
The construction of the city is personalized in this way. Drag and drop a residential area on the map, and small trucks arrive full of workers who are willing to build houses. When finished, sign up and sales people move in. build a power plant and workers must move to begin the subject of huge piles of coal on the conveyor belt in the building. Everything is visible, everything works. Well, that's if everything goes well.
- There are visual cues on the welfare of its people, too. Turn the layer of happiness and every house is a little smiley, revealing the state of mind throughout the city. If things are really bad just scroll to the town hall where you will find the demonstrators who marched with placards outside. Again, this is an immediate response, leaving aside the concept of tables and pop-ups.

Japanese Court Misunderstands Autocomplete, Orders Google To Turn It Off To Protect 'Privacy'
But it's not good enough for some. We covered the case of France and Italy, where Google has been convicted of "suggestions" that the user does not like (usually involving complained of a bad thing). Of course, you do not quite understand the function and suggests that Google is directly saying that this is the best suggestion (actually, I wonder if this is why Google stopped calling the "Google Suggest" and moved to just called "AutoComplete"). Finally, as noted by TNW is that the court has ordered Google to Japan to turn it off completely, saying it is a violation of the
Privacy . Privacy? Huh? Basically, it looks like a little boy complains that his name was searched suggestions of all kinds of bad things (the article says "criminal acts"), and the man thinks that his dismissal and the difficulty of finding another job was due to this. Of course, it is difficult to see how this is a

It's time Apple sized up its choices
Apple sold 300m IOS devices using a single size for the iPhone and the iPad. This can not last much longer
is the end of a size iPhone / iPad unique.
Apple has sold more than 300m IOS devices using a single size for the iPhone and one for the iPad. I am convinced that this can not last much longer. Soon I think we will see a number of physically distinct iPhone and iPhone models.
reach this conclusion from three angles.
Let me start with an analogy of history. It's 1974, I sat across the street from Burberry Haymarket in London emporium to see a herd of tourists leaving the store, each with the same dark blue suit and a Burberry scarf distinctive. Once the icon of the British nobility (as perceived by non-British), to the police station in coats, scarves and other supplies country squire, Burberry has lost its reputation by sticking to a numbing repetition of taste. The company that invented a century 20 real contradiction - exclusive marketing mass - had lost its way
For the last three weeks I have been traveling the United States, France and Spain. Spain in particular caught my attention the number of iPhones that I saw in the street cafes, lounges at the airport, hotels and restaurants. An upscale restaurant in Palma de Mallorca team its servers to the iPod Touch that displays pictures of the dishes to customers, with a tap, take their orders. I'm usually careful to draw conclusions from anecdotal evidence - may not be representative of a larger reality - but when I returned to the valley, I heard a story ® Marketplace (audio and text) which confirms my observation: the Spaniards are so taken with the iPhone that prefer to reduce their spending other amid the severe economic crisis without this essential component of their identity.
How long before customers are facing left, looks good, see you all with the same phone or a tablet and start to itch for something different ? My friend Peter Yared argues that the trend has already begun in the UK, where "Class 18-25" now favors the wide variety of Samsung devices as a relief, even iPhone. And, lest we think this concern about the identity of fashion taste is below Olympic Apple on store shelves Hypergalactic Cupertino company will bring us back to Earth :We can say that one size fits all simplicity of Apple has been good. I hear an inflexible European retail magnate Apple regrets (he said'' totalitarian'') even where policies are fine with the low number of references (references to different products) which produced the turnover Apple monstrous. (A competent, well envy the Apple stores, where, as he says, the cash register keeps the customer.)
However, Apple is no longer marginal, on the brink of disaster, some reckless challenge established giants. Apple has become a leading brand whose rise to ubiquity now requires a distinction that was not necessary in the years pre-IOS.for the iPhone, how differentiation is manifested in the change without going capricious and superficial?
- Shape
- ? The sleek industrial 4/4S iPhone is by no means obsolete. Personally, I consider it a classic, more than the previous, less innovative design. However, alternatives will broaden the appeal of the iPhone, the new communication and differentiation.
On August 1, 2009 Monday Note discuss Apple Tablet rumors, I went up to measure the width of the pockets of his jacket for men (5.5 "to 6", most often) and found that 7-inch (diagonal) would be compressed. But I am biased, I like small computers. I loved my Toshiba Libretto and aspired to a similar-sized MacBook. I had given up the possibility of a "MacBook Nano", but still had hope for a handheld tablet.
Aa wiser minds prevailed and got the iPhone 9.7 inches.
