Sim City - preview
The city building simulation of the classic is back, with a deep simulation than ever and an exciting multiplayer mode
About 23 years ago, Will Wright and his team at Maxis Software has changed the direction and importance of designing video games. They did it with Sim City, a brilliant urban sandbox simulator, allowing players to create their own urban landscapes operation, complete with economic infrastructure, and social - and the odd natural disaster. The series saw four major sections and sold millions of copies. And now he's back, renovated from top to bottom and ready to absorb new.
Developed by many original equipment Maxis, SimCity is based on completely new game engine Glassbox Apparently the name comes from the transparency of the system - for the first time, all pedestrians, all cars and all buildings in the game is an officer, reporting to the main simulation. This means that players will be able to work with the point of view - rather than numerous tables and menu screens - why their beloved utopia is quickly festering urban hell
"Ocean Quigley, our creative director and Andrew Willmott, our chief architect, both worked in the Sim City 4 and the technology was not there to support the massive simulation and graphics that they wanted, "says producer Jason Haber." Now we're finally at the point where they can make the game we like to say: "You see, we do more than '- .. Everything you see in the game is in reality show "
Forget the simulation at the time, and appreciate the appeal that comes out. Inspired by the TiltShift YouTube phenomenon, in which the real world, cities are made to look like small representations of the world in Sim City has a small-scale model to play - not exactly pretty, but certainly bright and elegant. Teeny pedestrians roaming the streets, each with their own objectives and specific destinations, all cars on the road is occupied by drivers and passengers real Sim Sim
The construction of the city is personalized in this way. Drag and drop a residential area on the map, and small trucks arrive full of workers who are willing to build houses. When finished, sign up and sales people move in. build a power plant and workers must move to begin the subject of huge piles of coal on the conveyor belt in the building. Everything is visible, everything works. Well, that's if everything goes well.
- There are visual cues on the welfare of its people, too. Turn the layer of happiness and every house is a little smiley, revealing the state of mind throughout the city. If things are really bad just scroll to the town hall where you will find the demonstrators who marched with placards outside. Again, this is an immediate response, leaving aside the concept of tables and pop-ups.
