A new report from VentureBeat sheds some light on the decision process that led HP to webOS is open source a few weeks ago. HP internal sources say the company has been asked a whopping $ 1.2 billion for Palm webOS and assets. For those of you keeping score, that's exactly what HP paid for the Palm back in April 2010.
