IDC: Nokia, LG see significant Q2 shipping decline, Apple continues to grow

Well, the numbers are in Q2 and proved a mixed bag for the mobile market. According to IDC, mobile phone makers sold a total of 365.4 million units last quarter, annual increase of 11.3 percent. Nokia, all the world's largest mobile phone manufacturer, has suffered a stroke, with shipments up 111.1 million dollars in 2010 to 88,500,000 Q2, participation on a similar market is down, hitting 24.2 percent, compared to 33.8 percent last year. LG Electronics is the only manufacturer to another to see a loss, with shipments falling 24.8 million against 30.6 million in 2010. Apple has managed to maintain their newly acquired number four spot, with shipments of the iPhone has hit 20.3 million, an annual increase year on year to 8.4 million. RIM has been conspicuously absent from the alignment of the top five, while ZTE was the number five position. In a story that should not surprise anyone with a pulse, the feature phone market was down this year, surprisingly, the first since the third quarter of 2009. If you're jonesing for market share and shipment statistics, hop on past the break for the full PR.
