'Smoking' Sony Bravia owners offered safety inspection

The owners of Sony Bravia LCD models urged to contact a service center to replace potentially defective part from the reports of fire

Sony urges owners of several models of Bravia LCD TVs to its credit a safety inspection conducted after the reports of TV catch fire.

The 11 incidents where the games began to emit smoke or melting due to faulty components, were all in Japan, but the defective parts may affect TVs sold worldwide, said the company. Models that could be affected were sold in Europe since 2007.

Sony is to ask the owners of affected models in contact with one of its service centers for inspection can be performed and repair sets if they contain the affected component. The company has denied initial reports that it was recalling more than 1 million units.


Sony
no figures on the number of games on television BRAVIA brand was sold in the UK, but said it sold 1.6 million worldwide.
