Bezos: Amazon breaks even on Kindle devices, not trying to make money on hardware
Amazon provides a good case for your Kindle Fire and Paperwhite HD for as low as $ 199 and $ 119 respectively, but there is more at stake than just special to make them accessible. In an interview with the BBC, the head of the company honcho Jeff Bezos revealed that they can maintain reasonable price tags because no profit on the devices. "Basically, we sell hardware at our expense, so you break even on the hardware," said Jeff Bezos. "We're not trying to make money on the hardware." Instead, banks Amazon make money when the owners of the slates and e-readers buy books, movies, games and other content through its online store. This is not really a surprise, but we are pleased that Jeff has confirmed our suspicions.
