Dish gives up effort to turn Blockbuster into a Netflix competitor
It's been a bumpy road for the Blockbuster brand especially in recent years, and things are a little more difficult. In an interview with
Bloomberg
, founder and CEO Charlie Ergen of Dish Network has confirmed that the company abandons its current efforts to challenge Netflix Blockbuster, saying he did longer intends to use the mark as video streaming or DVD by mail service in the United States. Ergen said Dish himself had other plans for Blockbuster, but did not specify what they are. It also seems quite resigned to anything, saying that "the worst case, we will take our money after losing a bit of time, money is not much, and life goes on."
