Former Olympus chairman Tsuyoshi Kikukawa comes down from the mount, into police custody

If you followed the sector accounting scandal last camera, then you are probably aware that not everything is perfect on Olympus. The Japanese company had its last shot today when former President Tsuyoshi Kikukawa was arrested in Tokyo on suspicion of falsifying financial statements. The prosecutor's office in Tokyo issued a statement saying that two other former executives were also placed in custody, including Hisashi Mori, former executive vice president, and Hideo Yamada, a former auditor. Olympus also faces the possibility of registering on the Tokyo Stock Exchange - the decision was deferred pending more evidence. So what does this mean for the position of the device manufacturer full of scandals in the industry? Soon, perhaps, from a consumer standpoint, given that Olympus has continued to advertise and send new products, including the well received EM-5. The fate of its former executives, however, is less favorable.
