Google reveals US leads way in data requests

Google has a record number of inquiries from 26 developed countries, to show private information about Internet users to receive

Private information about Google users was from a government or police demanded more than 14,000 times in 26 developed countries in the second half of last year, according to figures published for the first time by the Internet company yesterday.

In an effort to highlight online censorship reveals, Google, it had received several inquiries from the United States than anywhere else has, and that they complied with anywhere from three quarters to more than 90% of the requests, depending on which country they were made in.

Google received a record 4601 requests from the U.S. to Internet users to disclose 'private data in the six months to December, up 28% over the previous year. The California-based company said it met in whole or in part, with 94% of user data orders from the U.S., with 72% of respondents from the United Kingdom.

According to Google, the United Kingdom 1162 user data requests in the second half of last year, making it the fourth position in relation to the requests, after the United States, Brazil and India. Google began sharing his semi-annual Transparency Report in April 2010 to mark it as a way for government censorship of the Internet.

William Echikson, Google 's head of freedom of expression in Europe, the Middle East and Africa, also said it was "more and more" pressure from European governments to remove content. "We believe that governments around the world crackdown on the Internet, and there are more and more pressure from within Europe - it 's not just us but all Internet companies," he told the Guardian.

Google products are banned or partially banned in 25 countries, pointed out Echikson. He said the "increased the profile" Arab Spring uprising, in which Egypt and Tunisia is looking forward to the Internet \ of online censorship, but Internet companies must do more to combat the trend.

Hong Kong increased its demands for payload of 80% over the period of six months, to 90; Google complies with 59%.
