Apple ruling blocks Galaxy Tab shipments

German patent court granted an injunction against Apple Samsung 's Galaxy tablet of claim

European customs officials have been ordered for the shipment of Samsung 's Galaxy Tab confiscate computers, after Apple has a restraining order against the Korean electronics giant in a bitter patent dispute.

Samsung said Wednesday that it would act immediately to the blockade, which prevents sales of its flagship Tablet PC in the European Union to lift with the exception of the Netherlands.

Tens of thousands of Samsung Galaxy Tabs is believed to have been confiscated after the decision late Tuesday evening by a German patent court.

Apple, Samsung 's Galaxy series of smart phones and tablet computers \ accused of "slavishly" copy the design and functionality of the popular iPhone and iPad lines.

Apple will ask that the injunction was later extended to the Netherlands before the patent court in The Hague on Wednesday.

A Samsung spokeswoman said on Wednesday morning: "Samsung is disappointed with the court 's decision and we intend to act immediately to protect our intellectual property rights through the court proceedings in Germany and will continue to actively defend these rights throughout the world.

"We will take all necessary measures to ensure, Samsung 's innovative mobile devices available to customers in Europe and around the world.

"This decision by the court in Germany in no way influences other legal proceedings filed with the courts in Europe and elsewhere."

Apple claims, that the Samsung tablet violated 10 separate patents in areas such as data transmission and wireless technology.

A spokesman for Apple said, \. "It 's no coincidence that Samsung' s latest products much like the iPhone and iPad look is wrong for the type of hardware to the user interface and even the packaging of this kind of blatant copying, and we need to Apple 's to protect intellectual property, if the companies steal our ideas. "

Back in August, the California-based company forced Samsung to launch its Galaxy Tab 10.1 in Australia lag after they won an injunction in this country. Apple, the oil giant Exxon as the world 's most valuable company took over on Tuesday evening, also tries to rival the sales of tablet computers to block in the U.S..

Samsung has a countersuit Apple in its native South Korea and Japan, the USA and Germany.

Florian Mueller, the intellectual property analyst who has followed the dispute between the two electronics giants, said that the EU's preliminary injunction, the judge must be convinced Apple, it would probably win win the trial.

"A preliminary injunction is to be ordered only if the court believes you 're likely to prevail at the trial, but that doesn' t necessarily mean that you like," he said. "In the event you lose the most important process, you 're liable to pay damages."
