Capcom's Resident Evil DRM Is Evil: You Get To Play The Game Once And That's It

DRM use by game manufacturers is old news. Every so often, does a software company, it 's something I' virtually invulnerable "(+30 geek points those who recognize that reference), only to find his latest piece of copy protection hacked and discarded more quickly along the virtual information highway as You can say, "stoptreatingyourcustomerslikethieves." In recent days, however the game seems almost as desperate companies used by game sales, the deal to complete their budgets. Consequently, they 've shifted their efforts to make second-hand users feel like the last kid in line for a family hand-me-downs, giving them the tattered remnants of the last game in exchange for their second-hand for relationship.

Capcom, however, has trumped everyone with its latest DRM, scheduled to debut on the Nintendo's 3DS. "Resident Evil: The Mercenaries 3D," along with being a mouthful-and-a-half to say, will feature this crippling new "feature":

You get only one save file .

And ...

It can not be overwritten, .

In other words, if you choose, you 'd like you to start your game and repeat the whole zombie-shooting match from the get-go, too bad. You only get one shot. How 's that for sticking to the second hand market? If you no-good against piracy customers that you are, go and plunk down your $ 40 for this game, would you expect kind of things that you could do with all the other games you 've invested no money. How to save multiple files. Or a chance to start.

Instead, Capcom will become a piece of software to save with all the features of the original Nintendo and possibly even less. Let \ say's that you are friends / family members who have \ would like to play the game. (I know: gamer s z But to socialize some of them still / co-habitats.) Schade. The free-loading bastards of friends and family call is open to only their wallets and buy their own damn copy, when they experience the game itself, instead of "enjoy" it would save through your proxy file.

You 're twice as screwed when you save a few bucks and get it down to shop or upsell game reserve your copy or to decide where else. You \ re ab ', which have so far stopped unimpressed gamer. And when they finished the game, well ... then I guess you learn to see the end credits and trying to determine which deserves the name scroll the full volume of your anger.

And Capcom 's been his "out" because if the bad players come calling. "Why, we printed it right in the manual! That 's barely concealed and / or sneaky!" The manual? You mean that worthless little booklet that had no meaning until I was about to sell RE: at the local GameUpsellBoutique TM3D? The Thing? Anyone who reads even this? More importantly, why is the seller at the show-in desk gave me a prorated payment based on completion percentage? What the hell?

Oh, Capcom. You 've even built a very slippery slope with this step. They care so much about the possible loss of income from second-hand sales you 've even completely removed from reality. I feel like there 's some nasty play in your future, and I expect to enjoy every second of it.
