Groupon Inc. founder and CEO told employees: "I'm fine for failing" as enterprise value falls

Groupon Inc. founder Andrew Mason sent a memo to employees after he was fired Thursday. Here is the text of his letter:

After four and a half years of hard work and wonderful as CEO of Groupon, I decided that I would spend more time with my family. Just kidding - I got fired today. If you are wondering why ... you have not been paying attention. Our S1 controversial metric our weakness with just two quarters of our own expectations and the share price is around a quarter of our price list, the events of the last year and a half speaks for itself that thereof. As CEO, I am responsible.

You do amazing things in Groupon, and you deserve the outside world to give you a second chance. I am in the way of that. A CEO fees you earn this opportunity. The board is aligned behind the strategy that we shared in the past months, and I've never seen them work together more effectively as a global society -. It is time to give Groupon a safety valve for the public noises
  • For those who care about me, please do not be - I love Groupon, and I'm really proud of what we have created. I am very well not be in this part of the trip. If Groupon was Battletoads would be like I did all the way to Terra tubes without dying on my first play through. I feel very fortunate to have had the opportunity to take the company up to here with you. Now I will take some time to decompress (FYI, I'm looking for a good fat camp to lose my Groupon 40 if anyone has a suggestion), and then maybe I'll find a way channel this experience into something productive.

If there is a piece of wisdom that simple pilgrim wishes to you, have the courage to start with the customer. My biggest regrets are the times that I let a lack of data to replace my intuition about what is best for our clients. This change of direction gives respite to break bad habits and to offer customers sustainable happiness - do not miss the opportunity
