DMCA Notices So Stupid It Hurts

Decision of Google to be more transparent about DMCA takedowns for the research revealed a band of absolutely stupid ridiculous DMCA notice. We covered some of them already, but TorrentFreak is a little more - including many cases of DMCA notice from copyright holders that are not only against their own interests, but often against the content themselves underdeveloped. This is not even a situation like Viacom sued YouTube over clips that Viacom employees had increased. In such cases, at least he was trying to make clips eyes

unauthorized. Here, however, it seems so ridiculous bad processes in place to make sure DMCA takedowns are legitimate. There are, for example, Warner Bros. for sending a DMCA to the IMDB page of your own movie,
aa Wrath of the Titans
. He also demanded that the Guardian newspaper showing the official trailer of the film to be removed from Google search. The same goes for the official trailer on Apple's site and the site Hulu. And do not forget the BBC article new in America about how the film can be "critical test" and a page of the newspaper of Charleston, South Carolina
The Post and Courier
on the film and tell people where to go and see. Well, I think Warner Bros. lawyers do not want you to see everything, because everyone who DMCA'd be searching Google.

It's almost as if Warner Bros. lawyers are so clueless that they were actively trying to hide any movie legitimate marketing. I'm sure his colleagues in the marketing department must have been only

excited

on these efforts.

TorrentFreak lists the demolitions much more, for news sites, often promoting the works in question:

Warner addition to the instance mentioned above, the RIAA has asked Google to exclude a revision of the Night album is published in The Guardian. The artist behind the album is Lady Antebellum, signed with the RIAA-member Capitol Records.

Even more troubling, the RIAA has asked Google to remove from the list Pop Last.fm 's Electro entire section, because they thought it was a pirated copy of all tonight for Pixie Lott.

Warner also reappeared later, ask Google to exclude a page from NME news site that displays information about the latest movies, which in turn provides information on the Hall Pass movie. The same page of the NME has been attacked several times, including hacking DtecNet company on behalf of Lionsgate, which took information about The Hunger Games written off.

Hollywood Reporter was not much better either. Sony Pictures has asked Google to rotate the BanHammer against the popular news site after publishing an article entitled "Trent Reznor has released six free tracks" Girl with the Dragon Tattoo "Banda sonora", and Sony took it to rip .

But when fears of piracy from the first film from Sony 'Dragon Tattoo "had subsided, they were stronger than ever with more. This time, Wikipedia was the sinner, who dared to an information page on the film The Girl Who Played with Fire. Fortunately Sony were present to ask Google to delist the page.
The more you play, the more examples of this type you can find. Zuffa, the people behind notoriously controversial UFC demanded a list of Hulu disappeared from Google search, although Hulu has authorized the release of content .
