Resistance: Burning Skies - review
PS Vita, Sony, cert: 16
Play as fireman, Tom Riley
Resistance: Burning Skies plots players on a mission without surprise to save his family in the middle of an alien invasion. "No surprises" seems to be the hallmark of this first person shooter (FPS), because it shows he is capable, but largely without incident, delivering nothing but the players have seen better elsewhere.
- what he does best is to show the great potential of the Vita is in the delivery of a mobile action game. Twin joysticks provide a full range of motion, while the icons of grenades, secondary fire options and ax are always present on the touch screen in the golden hand of the player. Other controls are less expert, such as enabling career playing the buffer back, but nothing is really broken into the mechanics of the game Great variety of weapons is decent, with a little imagination thrown alien technology, but disappointing compared to the inputs of the power of PS3.
- Unfortunately, these positive elements are limited by the design world that is inherently linear. Taking players on a tour by the numbers of devastated U.S. East Coast, the set pieces offer a casual sense, but little substance, there are no alternative routes and a small window for the game almost depressing tactic . Boring an online option offers an assortment of multiplayer modes useful, but like many of the game, seem to be ticking boxes, rather than just something to be excited.
Resistance: Burning Skies not bad, but being the first FPS Vita, who have met or exceeded expectations. Instead, what could have been exceptional is still poor.
